PopStroke Isn’t Your Average Mini-Golf
Tiger Woods’ New Fort Myers Family Course Fuses Golf with Technology.
5531 Six Mile Commercial Court, Fort Myers, FL 33912.
Sunday – Tuesday: 10AM – 11PM | Wednesday – Saturday: 10AM – Midnight
Tiger Woods’ latest venture, PopStroke, has opened in Fort Myers. But this isn’t the average mini-golf. Woods himself designed the course and has done a superb job of transforming the long and serious game of golf into a fun and quick experience for the whole family.
Here is where it gets interesting. The course has technology that keeps the score for you and sends the information right to its app on your phone through Pop Stroke’s iPutt golf balls. This technology is bad news for you cheaters out there who like to shave strokes against your unwitting opponents. There’s no room for Mulligans at PopStroke!
Not only are you getting a real golf course experience, but like an actual course, PopStroke has servers who will bring drinks out to you through their app. And if you decide that drinks aren’t enough, the onsite pub has an extensive food menu and even an ice cream shop with 24 flavors (scroll to the bottom for full listing).
PopStroke is the brainchild of founder Greg Bartoli and Tiger Woods. This kind of place is perfect family entertainment with a full bar and restaurant, ping pong, playground, and plenty of televisions for football season. The course is fenced in and has music pumping throughout the greens. Speaking of greens, they are lush and feel like real grass under your feet, and palm trees are gently swaying throughout the course.
There are two courses to choose from. The first is the Cub, a family-friendly choice for beginners or those families with young children. The Tiger course has more challenges for advanced players.
When I arrived at the main doors, I was immediately greeted by a friendly employee who answered all my questions. In my hour there, I came in contact with several delightful employees. To get the most of your experience, make sure you download the app to collect PopBucks you can redeem later and for easy score tabulation. Each $100 you spend, will get you $10 in PopBucks, which you can spend on golf, food, drinks, or merchandise.
When you sign up, you also get a free round of golf, redeemable in your birthday month.
However, this type of entertainment hotspot won’t come cheap. One round of golf for three people (over 12 years old is $14.99 + tax) set me back almost $50. You may want to check out their weekly specials; Every other Tuesday after 7 pm is only $7 per person and $5 per child. Kids’ night is every other Wednesday and includes a round of golf, pizza, and ice cream for $10. There’s a putting league that’s $99 for ten weeks for adults, and Karaoke night is every Sunday with food and drinks specials starting at $5. More specials are available on their website: www.popstroke.com
The location was an odd choice, in my opinion, because it’s near Walmart, and I don’t think they have the same target market. In fact, on Saturday morning (I played 10/24), Ferraris, Porches, and Lexuses were in ample supply in the parking lot. PopStroke is the upper crust of mini-golf.
The menu is an excellent range, especially for families with picky eaters. From nachos, wings, and eggrolls to fried chicken, Mahi, and pulled pork, there’s something for everyone!
Even though the course is set near the road, you find the music and atmosphere make tuning out cars’ whizzing by easy. I highly recommend this place. They are also available for parties and private events.
The course is located at 5531 Six Mile Commercial Court, Fort Myers, FL 33912.
Their number is (239) 323-4653.
The hours are Sunday – Tuesday, 10 am – 11 pm, and Wednesday – Saturday, 10 am – 12 am (midnight)
